Repotting FAQ's

Some of our frequently asked questions when it comes to repotting service. Don't see your question here? Feel free to call us at the shop or send us an email!

When does my plant need to be repotted?

The ideal time of year to repot houseplants is late March through the beginning of July. Repotting plants when it’s too cold outside or when they are in the process of growing can send them into shock and may kill them. However just because the weather is nice doesn’t mean your plant is ready to be repotted. Signs that your plant is ready for a bigger pot include: roots growing out of the bottom of its current pot, you’re noticing you are needing to water it more frequently, hydrophobic soil or excessive yellow leaves.

How long will repotting my plants take?

It depends on how many plants you bring to us, but we say a minimum of 2 business days and we will call you when they are ready!

What if the pot I’m providing doesn’t have a drainage hole?

If your pot does not have a drainage hole, you must purchase a nursery pot. We will not pot a plant in a pot that does not have proper drainage.

Why does my plant look sad after repotting?

Putting plants in new soil always sends a little shock to their system, but don’t change anything about their normal routine or move them to a different area. They just need a little time to adjust to their new soil.
